Glimmers of Spring

You guys, it's feeling so much like spring! I'm still surprised when I look outside and still see leafless trees and brown fields. On Sunday, we took a walk and I wore a short sleeved shirt... it felt so crazy! Utah's late-winter identity crisis is maddening. It's a tantalizing peak of what's to come, with major storms in the next few days' forecasts. And yet my soul yearns for fresh mountain air and dappled light through branches full of twinkling leaves.

I threw this little arrangement together the other weekend to quench my thirst for springtime and living things. It sort of worked, but now it's gone and all I have are these photos to remember it by.

Winter Wreaths with Sarah Winward

Hello lovelies! I've been avoiding these parts for a while now, because I'm cooking up lots of new things. There are going to be some MAJOR changes around here very soon. Hopefully good things, but I guess we'll find out!

Back in December, I attended a small wreath-making workshop at Sarah Winward's studio. The event was hosted by Kinfolk Magazine and shot by Leo Patrone. We walking in from the cold snow fluries outside to some simple, yummy refreshments including piping apple cider (my favorite this season!) and amazing local cheeses from Beehive Cheese Co. My favorite was the Barely Buzzed cheese, which is rubbed with hints of lavender and espresso. After getting to know everyone, Sarah shared a few techniques for creating beautiful winter wreaths and foraged natural home decor.  It was really laid back, and lots of fun to meet and mingle with other local creatives while working on our own, unique projects.

Oh, and I did leave the class with my fingers throbbing because I chose to use mainly blue spruce, but thought I was tough enough to do it without gloves. Not smart, my friends. But the results were worth it.

Thank you Sarah for providing such a wonderful, intimate gathering!
