Winter Fruit Inspired 50th Birthday Celebration

With a birthday on December 20th, my mom always feels overshadowed by the holidays. So I knew when she turned 50, I would have to do something to really celebrate her day and make her feel special. With not a hint of Christmas to be found.

The overall design and flowers were inspired by sumptuous winter fruits. From a variety of citrus, to pomegranates and winter berries, I have always loved the richness and depth of fruits available this time of year.

Family and friends entered under an indoor canopy of lemon trees and gathered around a long, communal table set with flowers, bowls of fruit and hand painted favors in soft candlelight. Seasonal blooms included coral amaryllis, burgundy peonies, juliet garden roses and dark privet berries.

After a yummy dinner, my aunt Tya and I put together a dessert table for everyone to enjoy. This featured Chocolate cran-raspberry filled cake, winterberry macarons filled with red currant and cream cheese, rosemary infused lemonade and winter fruit sangria, and other decadent sweets.

Happy Birthday Mom! And thank you to the people below that helped make it so special.
