Blossoming Meadow

These photos are from last year at this time. After a bleak and colorless winter, the first blossoms of spring felt like they were bringing my soul back to life. I think it is amazing that some of the first plants to bloom are some of the brightest, like giant sprays of yellow forsythia. To celebrate the earth's rebirth, I gathered some beautiful blossoming branches and a few of my favorite blooms and invited the incredible Michelle White over to photograph them. We went out to a wild meadow at the base of the mountains near our home and the sun coming through the barely budding branches felt so luminous and I love the way this light was captured on the film.
