Mountaintop Elopement

Ahh, September. The days are getting shorter and chillier, the light is more subdued and the leaves are just beginning their transition with a touch of color. This is a shoot I put together with incredible Pittsburg photographer Joey Kennedy last September. It is an all-time favorite because we kept things really simple and let the natural elements and completely foraged flowers speak for themselves. Because the beauty found in nature speaks volumes.

Fall Foraged Arrangement

Today, I felt like throwing it back to autumn and reminiscing of a time when the earth was still abundant with life and color. (I am so ready for winter to be over.) I always love the first few weeks of fall. The leaves are just receiving their first tint of color and berries, fruited branches and grasses are going strong, but late summer's blooms are still sticking around before the frost. These are pretty traditional fall colors, but the white and soft pastels keeps it looking fresh and transitional for the time between two seasons.

I have never encountered a scene as serene as the snow covered mountains of Utah. Glistening, powdery white agains dark pines always makes me feel calm and reflective. Last month, I was able to create some beautiful foraged winter wreaths for Jess of Golden Swank, her husband and their sweet little pup Ellie.
